On behalf of Mayor Rigo Lopez and the Peñitas City Council, we want to remind everyone that time is running out to complete the 2020 Census and be counted! We are joining forces in the West for a Census Rally to encourage everyone to complete their 2020 Census. Join us on Friday, September 25, 2020 from 8 am to 6 pm at Agua SUD offices. We'll have food, drinks, music, and raffle giveaway prizes for those who complete their census at the rally! Please share!

Donation Pickup Guidelines:
- Must show ID
- Maximum of 2 families per vehicle
- All must wear mask
- All donations must be placed inside trunks of vehicles, so must ensure trunks must be clean

Peñitas families: During this time of crisis, leaders and organizations across the Rio Grande Valley are stepping up to the plate to help our families address their needs for groceries and essentials. The City of Penitas and Mayor Rigo Lopez are especially proud to partner with One United RGV, with Mayor Lopez serving as Alliance Chair, for the "10 days, 18 cities, 10,000 People Tour!" We will be distributing essential groceries (while supplies last) for our Peñitas families from 9 AM TO 11 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, on Liberty Drive next to JFK Elementary. Joe Flores - County Commissioner Pct. 3 is also supporting these efforts to provide much-needed food for our community, and will be distributing an additional 700 packages of food alongside the One United RGV distribution! We thank all city and county leaders for coming together to support our Peñitas community during this time of need! Please share!

Don't forget to join us this weekend, Friday, Dec. 6 - Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, from 10 am to 10 pm, as we support the Peñitas Police Department's fundraising event at the Five Below store located at 2515 E. Expressway 83 in Mission. For every purchase you make, 10% of the proceeds will be donated back to the Penitas Peñitas Police Department. The department is raising funds to purchase toys to give to the children of our community during our Annual Christmas Toy Giveaway on December 18.

*If participating in the fundraiser, please make sure to take and show a copy of the flyer while checking out at the store. Flyers are available for pick up at City Hall.

The Penitas EDC, in collaboration with the Women's Business Center of the Rio Grande Valley and the US Small Business Administration, will be hosting a free presentation to the community on How to Start a Business- Steps to Begin. This event will take place on Friday, November 9 between 10am-12pm in the Library.

ATTENTION COMMUNITY MEMBERS- Our Police Department wants to remind everyone that raffle tickets are still available for a chance to win the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox!!

Other prizes to be raffled include a YETI Tundra, 50" Smart TV, 11.6" Chromebook 3, and a $100 Wal-Mart Gift Card.

Be sure to stop by our City Hall, Police Station, or Public Library to purchase your tickets. Drawing will be on December 14 and all proceeds are to benefit the Police Department's Community Events.
