Yellow Creek State Park - A DCNR Page Yellow Creek State Park has many attractions and activities for all ages. This trail was used by the Delaware and Shawnee nations and by early settlers.

Today, visitors enjoy the sand beach, picnicking and the educational programs. The 720-acre Yellow Creek Lake is a destination for boaters and anglers. The lake and park ar

Great opportunity to become a PA Master Naturalist!

Apply today to become a Pennsylvania Master Naturalist in Armstrong County! The early bird deadline is April 3rd. Learn more and apply at www.pamasternaturalist.org

The Armstrong Center for Community Learning has been coordinating the program in Armstrong County at the Outdoor Discovery Center since 2020. So far our naturalists have provided 5,750 service hours to nature projects throughout Armstrong County and we've already welcomed over 35 people into the program! Why don't you join the team and help to make a difference in your local environment?

The Fall 2026 Training Course at the Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek will take place on Thursdays, August 13 - October 29 from 6-8:30 PM & select Saturdays.

Finally, a well-named bird species 🤣

The Yellow-bellied Sapsucker has a yellow belly and sucks sap! These woodpeckers drill tiny holes into the bark of trees just deep enough so the sap runs out of them. They then drink the sap for food! Next time you're walking in the woods, look for neat rows of square holes to see if a sapsucker is in the area.
