Planning a trip to the South Yuba River this summer?🌊

Nevada County is launching a new River Shuttle Pilot Program designed to reduce dangerous roadside parking, improve emergency access, and make it safer for those planning to enjoy one of our region’s most popular destinations.

Running Fridays through Sundays, July 3 through September 6, the shuttle will transport visitors between the Nevada County Government Center and the Highway 49 bridge crossing every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Each shuttle trip means fewer vehicles crowding local roads, fewer pedestrians walking alongside traffic, and better access for emergency responders. By choosing the shuttle, riders can help reduce traffic impacts, lower emissions, and protect the South Yuba River for everyone.

🗓 July 3 – September 6
⏰ Fridays–Sundays, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
📍 Departs from Nevada County Government Center
đź’˛ $2 one-way fare (electronic payment only)

The River Shuttle is a community pilot, and your participation will help shape the future of safe, sustainable river access in Nevada County.

The South Yuba River Corridor Burn Ban is now in effect for fire season. All outdoor burning on private property is prohibited within the lower 39-mile stretch of the South Yuba River corridor, from Lang Crossing to Kentucky Creek below Bridgeport, within a quarter mile of the river on both sides. Open campfires on public lands are not allowed anywhere within the corridor year-round.

If you're visiting the river this summer:
• Campfires and BBQs are illegal in the South Yuba River corridor during fire season, except as allowed under the ordinance.
• Cell service is extremely limited to non-existent. Emergency call boxes are located at Bridgeport, Purdon, Maybert Road, Edwards, and Highway 49 river crossings.
• Parking is extremely limited. Please park only in designated areas to ensure emergency vehicles can access the corridor during a fire or other emergency.

Due to an inch of rain expected in the forecast, this year’s SpringFest at Bridgeport has been canceled. We are thankful for the rain, although it’s a bummer it’s coming this weekend!

Wildflower walks will resume when the weather is nice - Saturdays and Sundays at 10 A.M. through Mother’s Day.
