Friendly reminder that barbecues, glass, alcohol, and fires are not allowed at the river. Why, you might ask?

Barbecues and fires are banned for the same reason. Vegetation gets really dry in the summer, and any source of ignition can turn into an out of control wildfire with the potential to harm both people and the ecosystem.

Glass can break and get into the sand where folks often walk without shoes. You wouldn’t want to step on broken glass, would you?

Alcohol and water, especially moving water, don’t mix. It impairs judgement and greatly impacts the ability to swim. Please be responsible and refrain from bringing alcohol to the river.

All of these carry hefty fines if you are caught with them. Not worth the risk!

Due to an inch of rain expected in the forecast, this year’s SpringFest at Bridgeport has been canceled. We are thankful for the rain, although it’s a bummer it’s coming this weekend!

Wildflower walks will resume when the weather is nice - Saturdays and Sundays at 10 A.M. through Mother’s Day.

One week! Join us at Bridgeport, South Yuba River State Park for a celebration of spring! There will be live music, keynote speakers, games/activities, guided wildflower walks, and food from Clarky’s BBQ and Coco’s Creamery!

Event runs from 10am-4pm on Saturday, April 11th at 17660 Pleasant Valley Road, Penn Valley, CA.

The South Yuba River is currently running at over 4,500 cubic feet per second, so please stay out of the water. This is not something to be trifled with. This river has killed people. Normal late summer flows (when folks usually swim in the river) are around 30 cubic feet per second, meaning there is more than 150 times as much water moving down the river right now.
