🚲⚡ E-Bike Safety on Borough Streets

E-bikes are becoming more common throughout the borough. Riders must understand that e-bikes are not toys and must be operated responsibly.

PennDOT rules include:

• E-bikes must have operable pedals and a motor no larger than 750 watts
• Motor-assisted speed is generally limited to 20 mph
• Riders must obey all traffic laws, including stop signs and traffic signals
• Proper lights and reflectors are required when riding after dark
• Children under 12 years old may not operate an e-bike on public roads or public property
• E-bikes that exceed legal limits may be subject to additional registration, licensing, and insurance requirements

Parents: Please educate your children on safe operation, traffic laws, proper braking, and the importance of wearing a helmet. The added speed and weight of an e-bike can quickly turn a mistake into a serious injury.

Ride smart. Follow the rules. Get home safely.

🚗 Too fast can be dangerous… but so can too slow.

Driving significantly below the speed limit can disrupt the normal flow of traffic, create unexpected braking, encourage unsafe passing, and increase the risk of crashes.

The speed limit isn’t always the required speed, especially during bad weather or hazardous conditions—but when roads are clear and conditions are normal, drivers should maintain a safe, reasonable speed and avoid unnecessarily impeding traffic.

🚦 Drive smart. Keep up with traffic when safe. Stay alert. And remember: safe driving is about more than just not speeding.

Honoring Our Nation's Flag

On Monday, July 20, members of our American Legion Post #436 conducted a respectful Flag Retirement Ceremony to properly retire worn and unserviceable American flags.

In accordance with the U.S. Flag Code, flags that are no longer fit for display are retired with dignity through a ceremonial burning. This long-standing tradition reflects the honor, respect, and gratitude our nation holds for the flag and all that it represents.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the members of the American Legion for their dedication to preserving this meaningful tradition and for their continued service to our community and our country.

Thank you for ensuring that Old Glory is honored with the respect it deserves.

If you have an American flag that is worn or no longer suitable for display, a flag retirement collection box is located at the front entrance of Borough Hall. Flags placed in the collection box will be respectfully retired during a future American Legion Flag Retirement Ceremony.

UPDATE: Case closed! 🚔☂️

After a brief unauthorized flight and a two-night stay in our garage, the runaway patio umbrella has been safely reunited with its rightful owner.

We’d like to thank Mother Nature for the unexpected delivery service… but we’d appreciate it if future packages came with tracking numbers.

Looks like Mother Nature made a special delivery over the weekend to the Police Department! 🌬️☂️☔️

This patio umbrella apparently decided our parking lot was a better place to spend the weekend than your backyard.

If you’re missing one that took flight during the storms, let us know—we’re happy to reunite it with its rightful owner before it tries to migrate again! 😄

As part of this initiative, we are pleased to provide FREE firearm safety locks to members of our community. If you would like a gun lock, simply stop by the Penndel Police Station and pick one up—no questions asked.
