Retirement of Fireman Michael C. Stamm, Sr.
February 28, 2026, marked the retirement of Fireman Michael C. Stamm, Sr. from the Pennsauken Fire Department following 36 years of service to the Township of Pennsauken.
Mike joined the Delaview Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1 on August 1, 1990, and served in both company and brigade positions that included Lieutenant and Captain. On January 29, 2007, Mike was appointed to the career service.
Mike’s assignments included Station 5, Station 6, and Station 2. On February 2, 2013, Mike was assigned as a charter member of the first staffed engine company in the history of the Pennsauken Fire Department, Engine Company 1132; and proudly, Mike concludes his service as the Senior Man of Engine Company 1132 with his retirement from active service.
Having the privilege to serve as a second-generation Fireman is a long standing and proud tradition in the Pennsauken Fire Department. Mike has not only the proud distinction to be a part of this club, he also had the great fortune to work alongside his son Michael as he was appointed to the career service and was assigned to the same platoon as his father for the past two years.
All Senior Men are not created equal.
Mike has the respect of the members he works with, he has the respect of the company officers that he has worked for, he has the respect of the bosses, he holds the friendships and regards from the members of the companies that we work with on a daily basis, and he has the respect the leadership from the municipality. He is the walking definition of the theory that respect is earned and not given. Mike is the keeper of everything that defines what being a Pennsauken Fireman is.
Congratulations of a great career Mike! We know you will not be far away and will visit often, but know that your absence from quarters is already realized.
