Today, we honor and remember Brother George Bowman #54 on the 31st anniversary of his End of Watch, September 3, 1995.

Brother Bowman dedicated his life to service—first as a Vietnam Veteran and later as a member of the Pennsauken Township Police Department, where he also served as a K9 handler. At the time of his passing, Brother Bowman was President of Fraternal Order of Police, Garden State Lodge #3, where he worked tirelessly to advocate for the rights and well-being of his fellow Brothers and Sisters in law enforcement.

His commitment to others extended far beyond his own department. Brother Bowman devoted significant effort to supporting the families of fallen officers throughout New Jersey, leaving a legacy so meaningful that the New Jersey State Fraternal Order of Police named its survivors fund in his honor.

Thirty-one years later, his service, sacrifice, leadership, and dedication to the FOP family have not been forgotten.

Rest in Peace, Brother Bowman. We will continue to honor your memory and carry forward the legacy you left behind.

Today we remember Brother William Brey #43, EOW May 15, 1987. Today is the 39th anniversary of his death.

Brother Brey was killed in the line of duty by two brothers after responding to a disturbance call in the 1900 block of 46th Street. Brother Brey was stabbed during the incident but, was able to shoot and kill one of the two assailants. The second suspect was arrested and sentenced to life in prison.

Brother Brey was the first Pennsauken Township Police Officer to be killed in the line of duty. The police department’s award for valor, is named in his honor, to remember his sacrifice. Brothers Brey is survived by his wife, Loretta.

Rest In Peace Brother. You are not forgotten.

RIP Brother

With profound sadness, the New Jersey Fraternal Order of Police mourns the passing of Chaplain Jim McGuire.

Chaplain McGuire was a pillar of our organization and the law enforcement community. Elected Chaplain of the NJ State FOP Lodge in September 2020, he devoted more than five decades to the Fraternal Order of Police, having been a proud member since 1973. He honorably served the Jersey City Police Department for 33 years, retiring as a Lieutenant after a career marked by meritorious service.

His commitment to the FOP was unwavering—serving as Treasurer of Jersey City Lodge #4 for 14 years and holding numerous State FOP committee roles, including long-standing service on Ways & Means, Tactical North, and Tactical Central Committees. Beyond the FOP, Chaplain McGuire was a dedicated leader within the Honor Legion of the Police Departments of the State of New Jersey, including a decade as Chairman of the Awards Committee.

Chaplain McGuire’s legacy is one of faith, service, leadership, and compassion. He will be deeply missed, but his impact will never be forgotten.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the honor of serving alongside him.
