We ask everyone to please keep the Girven family in your thoughts and prayers. Greg was an amazing person and a true mentor to the fire service. Our thoughts and prayers to the Girven family.

It is with deep sadness that we notify the community that Captain Greg Girven has passed on July 2, 2026.

Greg was a 3rd generation Firefighter with 40 years of dedicated service to our community. Greg served as Jr. Firefighter, firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Asst. Fire Chief, Trustee, Vice President, and President.

Along with what Greg did for the fire company, he also served as president of AYSO, President of the Muncy Music Association, leader for the Pioneer Valley 4-H club, Vice Chair of the Lycoming County Youth Livestock Committee and probably many more things he didn’t even tell us about.

Greg continued his legacy of serving others even in death, donating his corneas so two individuals may see again.

Please keep the Girven family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time.

Hello Neighbors,

As some of you are well aware we have had some unfortunate mishaps within our station from a sewage blockage that has caused sewer to back up into our toilets and floor drains flooding the fire station. Due to this unexpected scenario, we are forced to vacate the premises and move all apparatus outside on the apron until the biohazard issue can be resolved and deemed to be safe to move equipment back inside.

During this time period All emergency services WILL NOT be interrupted. Our mutual aid departments have stepped up and helped clean, sanitize and restock our ambulance, for that I would like to send a big heart felt thank you to all involved. For all of the residents that have reached out to offer assistance/support another huge heart felt thank you.

I would like to reiterate to all residents and mutual aid departments that we are FULLY IN SERVICE and prepared to respond to any emergency that may arise.

Again, thank you to all and for the overwhelming support during this impossible situation that we are currently experiencing and working through.

Respectfully,
Scott Oldweiler
Fire Chief
Muncy Township Volunteer Fire Company

Please share this message to help it reach our community, thanks!

🍀🍀Please note: other than taking pictures of our leprechaun following the rainbow to his pot of gold, no other photography is permitted inside the barn. Contest photos must be submitted by 11 am the following day so we can choose a winner in a random drawing.

May the Luck of the Irish be with you as you enter the first scare of the season! (You're gonna need it.👻)

Muncy Township Volunteer Fire Company would like to remind township residents with the impending winter storm to be safe during snow removal and to limit exposure to the extreme cold temperatures. Should any emergencies arise call 911 immediately. Also, please limit any traveling as travel will be extremely difficult if not impossible during the entirety of the storm. Please take this winter storm seriously and be safe!
