Update: The dog has been claimed by its owner. Thank you for your assistance.

Penryn, we need your help. This afternoon a dog was found off of English Colony running down the road. A concerned citizen dropped the dog off at our fire station off of Church St. He’s safe and the crew is keeping him company. Animal Control has been contacted but if this your dog please call our station or stop by to claim him.

On October 2nd, 2025, Penryn Engine 38 responded to a medical aid just after 2:05pm. The firefighters arrived onscene and quickly identified that the patient required a rapid transport to the hospital due to a severe blood hemorrhage. Working alongside AMR ambulance the patient was rapidly transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Today, Mr. Michael Thomson and his wife Vicki came by Station 38 to show their appreciation for our crews excellent work. Fire Chief Ian Gow said, “we are so proud of our crews excellent work, day-in and day-out, which lead to positive outcomes in our communities. Due to their rapid recognition and quick thinking Michael is here today.”

Strong work and well done to Fire Captain Eric Gordon and Fire Engineer Bradley Garrison. We appreciate all that you do.

Penryn Fire with mutual aid from Newcastle Fire, Auburn City Fire, CALFIRE NEU and Placer Hills Fire responded to a commercial vehicle fire on Interstate 80 West Bound East of Penryn Rd at approximately 1:10pm. The fire was contained to the commercial vehicle which was hauling food products. CHP is on scene and traffic restrictions are in place.

Update: 12:25pm - The victim was successfully rescued by emergency personnel and has been transported to a local emergency room for evaluation. Crews are now working to secure the well.

Update: 11:45am - Placer Hills Fire Battalion 84 is in unified command with the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Rescuers have made contact with the fall victim and are initiating rescue operations. Multiple allied agencies are on scene working to safely extricate the victim. Pictures posted in comments.

Penryn Firefighters are on scene of a technical rescue call in the 3000 block of Taylor Road. Initial reports are of a person falling 40’ into a sub- surface well. Placer Hills Fire Battalion 84 is responding and has requested mutual aid from Placer Hills Fire Rescue 84, Rocklin Fire Truck 24 and CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Rescue 180. South Placer Fire is also on scene of this incident with one medic unit. Additional details will be provided as they become available.
