There’s something about a brand-new backpack that tugs at all of us...
A fresh start. Clean zippers. New straps. That “first day” feeling.
And it’s okay to feel that pull because let's be real, we’re human. But what if this year, we start a new tradition at HCE?
What if instead of replacing a backpack every summer, we choose one quality backpack at the milestone years - Kindergarten, 6th grade, or even high school and let it grow with our kids?
Tonight is a perfect moment to begin! There are no backpacks needed for tomorrow, so go ahead and clean out those backpacks. If your kiddos is still in good condition, give it a good wash, tighten the straps, and get it ready for one more year.
Then here’s the fun part:
Each year, add something small, a patch, a keychain, a pin, a zipper tag. A little “memory marker” that tells the story of their time at HCE. Over time, that backpack becomes more than a school necessity. It becomes a scrapbook they carry.
This one simple tradition can help save families money, reduce the urge to over-consume, and keep usable backpacks out of landfills.
Let’s make “reuse” feel meaningful.
Join us: Reuse a backpack (if it’s in good condition), and tell us what you’ll add to remember this year.
