Vote No on the School Board Superintendent Referendum

"The biggest misconception (that voters may have about this referendum) is that electing the superintendent increases accountability. It does the opposite. An elected superintendent answers to no one between elections except the governor, who alone holds the power to suspend an elected official. An appointed superintendent, by contrast, cannot be suspended by the governor at all and answers continuously to five locally elected Board members who can act with three votes. The second misconception is that this vote is about any particular person. It is about the structure of the office, which will outlast every individual who holds it." - LWVPBA Education Committee

We are pleased to invite you for a special joint meeting with the Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa & Walton County Democratic Black Caucuses, on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 6:00 PM CT, as we welcome Florida Chief Financial Officer candidate Earle Ford, Jr.

Many of you may remember that during the previous election cycles our Northwest Florida caucuses came together for joint candidate forums, information, Equal Ground Debriefs and they proved to be an excellent opportunity to hear directly from candidates, ask thoughtful questions, and engage in meaningful dialogue about the issues affecting our communities. We are excited to bring that tradition back.

This meeting will allow us to hear Mr. Ford’s vision for Florida, discuss the issues that matter most to our communities, and learn more about a candidate seeking to serve all Floridians. We encourage everyone to come prepared with questions and to participate in an open and respectful conversation.
