Mayor D.C. Reeves

Mayor D.C. Reeves D.C. Reeves was sworn in as Mayor of Pensacola on Nov. 22, 2022.

06/17/2026

On Monday, the Community Redevelopment Agency approved a Request for Proposals (RFP) sponsored by District 7 Councilman Delarian Wiggins. The purpose of the RFP is to support community engagement efforts and identify a development feasibility advisor for the Baptist Legacy Campus project.

We look forward to working alongside Councilman Wiggins as this important initiative moves forward.

Also, demolition at the site is underway and will be completed floor by floor.

This approach helps manage debris removal, enhances site safety, and allows crews to closely monitor conditions throughout the process.

As a reminder, the area around the former Baptist Hospital may contain hidden and apparent hazards, so we ask that residents respect the posted signs, barriers, work zones, and do not enter the project site.

The next opportunity for residents to learn more and share feedback will be a Sidewalk Talk event scheduled for July 21.

Nearly two-thirds of residents say Pensacola is moving in the right direction and making meaningful progress toward becoming an even better place to live, work, and play.

✅ Addressing the High Cost of Housing (20 percent) and Reduction of homelessness (19 percent) remained the top priorities among residents for areas of improvement.

✅ Residents believe Aviation & Aerospace and Hospitality & Tourism are two key areas where job growth could come.

I'm honored to share that I was elected to the Board of Trustees of the United States Conference of Mayors at last week’s 94th annual meeting in Long Beach, California.

In doing so, I became the first mayor in Pensacola's history to serve on the organization's Executive Committee, where I will help set the organization’s national policy agenda, federal advocacy strategies, and legislative priorities.

What makes this especially meaningful is that Pensacola is the smallest city represented in this leadership group, so this appointment is about bringing tangible impacts home to our great community.

It also gives the City of Pensacola a stronger voice in federal conversations and greater access to the resources, partnerships, and opportunities that help move us forward.

Being a part of the USCM has allowed us direct access to federal leaders which gives us competitive federal grant insights for local projects such as the Hollice T. Williams Greenway Project and job opportunities at the Port of Pensacola, which are already underway.

Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in Pensacola's future.

Yesterday, Stacey Hernandez was able to see the new house that she will soon close on courtesy of our partnership with Pensacola Habitat for Humanity (Northwest Florida Community Land Trust) and the Home Builders Association of West Florida .

This marks the final of three affordable/workforce housing opportunities to sell through the Pensacola Habitat for Humanity Blueprint to Homeownership Program, an initiative that aligns with the City of Pensacola’s commitment to increase access to quality housing for all residents.

The city’s Community Redevelopment Agency purchased the land using Westside TIF funds and donated it to be held permanently affordable in the Northwest Florida Community Land Trust.

Additionally, the city provided down payment assistance through ARPA-State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, which were distributed to state and local governments for recovery following COVID-19.

Since 2021, the city has distributed $4,128,823 in funding towards housing and housing assistance related projects.

HBA constructed the homes, using donated time, labor, and materials from their HBA members, while the Northwest Florida Community Land Trust (Pensacola Habitat) sold the homes to income eligible, qualified buyers.

Stacey, welcome to your new house!

A new piece of Pensacola has officially landed at PNS!

Yesterday, Pensacola International Airport - PNS unveiled a new mural in baggage claim celebrating the spirit of American Magic, a world-class sailing team who calls Pensacola home. The mural was generously gifted to the City of Pensacola - Government and PNS by American Magic and now joins our U.S. Navy Blue Angels mural as another true sense of place installation welcoming travelers to our community.

From the skies to the sea, these larger-than-life pieces showcase the innovation, energy, and identity that make Pensacola unlike anywhere else.

Whether you’re arriving home or visiting for the first time, we hope this mural reminds you exactly where you are: a city built on adventure, excellence, and the water.

Thank you to American Magic for this incredible gift to our airport and community.

Today, the City of Pensacola proudly unveiled the New Palafox with a special ribbon-cutting celebration honoring the small businesses that make this corridor such a vibrant part of our community.

At its core, this project was a major stormwater infrastructure investment that also transformed the streetscape — supporting local businesses, improving walkability, enhancing community gathering spaces, and investing in the future of our downtown.

Thank you to our residents, business owners, contractors, and supporters for your patience and partnership throughout construction.

We’re excited to officially welcome everyone back to experience the New Palafox.
