Bring your little ones and join us for a fun, relaxed Storytime at the library! Fridays 10:30 - 11:30am starting November 6th. We’ll enjoy stories, songs, simple activities, and time together for our youngest library friends and their caregivers. It’s a great opportunity to meet other local families and enjoy story time right here in our community! Preschool-age children and their caregivers are invited to join us. Come give Storytime a try and help us see if we can keep this special program going into the New Year! We’d love to see our local families at the library!

The North Country National Scenic Trail (NCT) is the longest footpath in the National Trails System, stretching 4,800 miles across eight states from North Dakota to Vermont, traversing forests and farmlands, remote terrain and nearby communities. Whether you’re looking to day-hike a few miles or plan a longer overnight backpacking trip, a multitude of diverse landscapes and hiking opportunities are waiting for you.
The Spirit of the Woods Chapter is responsible for maintaining about 80 miles of the NCT, mostly in the Manistee National Forest in Northwest Michigan. Pentwater’s own Sue Squire is part of this Chapter and has brought information for kids in Junior Ranger Adventure Guides! Stop in with your kids to pick up one of these guides and learn more about the NCT and the local Chapter. Their page offers trail information, upcoming hikes, or any other fun stuff related to this section of the trail so you can plan your next outing hiking on the NCT.

WELCOME TO A DARK & TWISTED WONDERLAND!
Something strange has happened at the library… and you’re invited to step through the looking glass.
Join us for a month of madness, mystery, games, and spooky surprises.
MAD HATTER DAY- October 6th
Kids, come after school to create your very own wonderfully wacky Mad Hatter-inspired hats. The sillier, stranger, and more twisted, the better!
CHESS WEEK- October 19th-24th
Think you can outsmart the Queen? Our chessboard will be waiting all week for brave challengers to take on our Librarian Chess Champion!
THE HAUNTED LIBRARY- October 31st
When the sun goes down, the library changes. For a few spooky hours, the doors will close to ordinary library business and open to something much stranger. Step inside and follow the story through our Haunted Library—if you dare. Expect creepy corners, curious characters, unexpected surprises, and plenty of opportunities to get spooked!
