The center provides visitors with more than seven miles of trails that lead through dense forest, along trickling stream beds, and over dramatic hillsides — easily offering outdoor enthusiasts one of the area's most intimate brushes with Mother Nature.

The A-frame trail head features a small natural history museum, nature store, and a room dedicated to bird-watching. NO PETS ALLOWED

🌿 Ready for an adventure in nature? Join us at Forest Park Nature Center on August 29th for our BioBlitz! 🌱🦋

What’s a BioBlitz? It’s a fast-paced, hands-on event where we team up to identify and count every plant, animal, and fungus we can find—all in one day! This is your chance to help protect one of Peoria’s hidden gems and learn how our community impacts the natural world.

We need YOU! Whether you’re a nature lover, a curious beginner, or a seasoned expert, your help is invaluable. Volunteer to count and identify species, or step up to lead a group if you have expertise to share!

Ready to make a difference? Sign up now at https://ec.samaritan.com/custom/1562/opp_details/238408 and choose the survey that interests you. Want to lead a group? Contact Naturalist Cassie at [email protected] or call 309-686-3360 to get started.

Let’s discover, learn, and protect—together! 🌳🦉

Today our staff had a most unusual animal rescue mission when this cicada became stuck to a bandaid.

This serves as a reminder that even the smallest pieces of litter can be very dangerous to wildlife. Please use the designated trash cans when visiting the nature center.

While we could not fully remove the bandaid from the cicada’s wings, we were able to trim it enough to give this creature a shot at returning to the wild.
