For more than a century, local laborers and organized labor have stood alongside the Heart of Illinois United Way, sharing their time, generosity, and commitment to help our neighbors thrive. This Labor Day, as we prepare to celebrate 105 years of service this fall, we’re especially grateful for the generations of local, hard-working people who have shaped our organization's story and continue to strengthen the heart of Illinois.

September is National Preparedness Month — and being prepared also means knowing how to help when disaster strikes.

Through Heart of Illinois United Way’s Activate for Disasters, local volunteers can sign up before an emergency happens. When help is needed, we can quickly connect registered volunteers with safe, coordinated opportunities to support response and recovery efforts.

You don’t have to be a disaster response expert to make a difference. You just have to be ready to help.

❤️ Register today and be ready when your community needs you:

This past Monday, we kicked off our annual United Way Week of Giving with breakfast and an opportunity to learn more about the incredible impact United Way and its partner organizations have in our communities.

This year's Heart of Illinois United Way speaker, Heather Robertson, Vice President of Resource Development, shared how the organization continues to make a difference throughout our region. We were also honored to welcome Dr. Derrick Booth, Executive Director of Community Services for Trillium Place, an affiliate of Carle Health, who shared Trillium's mission, the lives they impact every day, and how United Way's community partnerships and funding help strengthen organizations like theirs.

A special thank you to Heather and Dr. Booth for taking the time to share your stories, insights, and the meaningful work your organizations do every day. Your passion and dedication inspire us all to give back and make a difference.

We're excited to kick off another great Week of Giving and celebrate the power of coming together to make a difference. Every gift, no matter the size, helps create stronger, healthier communities and supports organizations that change lives every day.
