📢 Increase in Homestead Senior Freeze Exemption 📢

Good news for seniors! As of January 1, 2026, the gross income limit to qualify for the Senior Freeze Exemption has increased:

✅ 2026: from $65,000 → $75,000
✅ 2027: $77,000
✅ 2028: $79,000

👵👴 Who should watch for a form?
Anyone currently receiving the Homestead Exemption for Seniors will receive a Senior Freeze application form in February or March.

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of our esteemed Assessor, Max Schlafley, effective at the close of this year. We extend our sincerest best wishes to him as he embarks on this new chapter of his life. Your contributions will be greatly missed by both our staff and the local taxpayers.

In August, assessment notices will be mailed to all Peoria Township properties that have experienced a change in assessed value.

These updated values will impact your 2025 property tax bill, payable in 2026.

Now is the time to review your assessment and determine whether you agree with the updated value. If you have concerns or questions, you have the right to file an appeal.

We invite you to attend a free informational seminar to learn more about the assessment and appeal process—including when and how to file.
