Tuscarora Fire Department We are a Volunteer Fire/ EMS agency in Hollis Township, Peoria County, IL established in 1968.

We accept applicants 18 and up,regardless of experience, and have a Junior Firefighter program for those over the age of 16. The Tuscarora Fire Department is located just south of Bartonville, Illinois in rural Peoria County. We provide fire, rescue, and EMS services including early defibrillation with ISO rating of 4. We staff about 15-20 volunteer professionals, all of which attend training week

ly on Wednesday nights at our station. Within Peoria County, we are involved in a very active Mutual Aid system in which we provide aid to many departments, including the Greater Peoria Regional Airport. We are also an active in MABAS Division 36, in which we have a standing agreement to assist all other MABAS fire departments.

As of today 12/7/2022, after 55 years of service to the Tuscarora community the operations of the Tuscarora Fire Department have ceased. The fire station on Tuscarora road will remain open and has began operating as station #4 of the Timber-Hollis Fire Department. A huge thank you to all those that volunteered to serve the members of the community, your dedication and sacrifices will never be forgotten . Also, thank you to the residents of the Tuscarora community for your continued support over the last 55 years.

What did you do last night? We were training with the best to be the best! Volunteers needed, no experience required. Benefits include lights and sirens on your work truck; T-shirts; and adrenaline rush. Flexible work schedule; unlimited free training and opportunity for advancement. Some people aren't ever sure if they made a difference in another's life. Volunteers know they have. Huge, much needed win during a rough month for THFD! We're proud of you all!

Yesterday THFPD had the honor of seeing Ethan in the hospital. Ethan was in a motorcycle accident we responded to a few weeks back. he has come a long way he’s now working on walking more and greatly improving. We’re all glad to see our work greatly increased his chances of going back to normal and seeing his daughter again.

We drive big vehicles with lots of water. The top speed is governed. But if we are traveling on a four lane road or highway with lights flashing, we are on our way to an emergency. Often times we may be searching for a scene with a vague location. When we see it, we may need to block a lane, or turn around at a break in the median to access oncoming lanes. Regardless of how fast we are traveling, stay back at least 100 feet, and never pass. You could be running straight into the accident we are trying to locate, or running over the victim down in the road.
