Last month the Greater Peoria Area Crime Stoppers received 36 tips that led to 1 arrest. For this arrest, $550 was approved to be paid to the tipster that submitted the information. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to submit tips and information regarding crimes. If you have information regarding a crime or wanted fugitive call Crime Stoppers at 309-673-9000 or submit a tip through our P3 app.
This is how It Works
The process of calling the Greater Peoria Area Crime Stoppers is simple. You call 309-673-9000, which puts you in contact with the Crime Stoppers call center. An operator will answer the phone and take down the information you wish to provide about a crime. He or she will never ask for your name, number, address, or any other identifying information.
You can, also, download the P3 TIPS app to your phone. Once you have the app you can sign in and submit your tip.
Once you give us information, you will be assigned a code number, which is the only method Crime Stoppers has of identifying you. You must remember this number, and provide it to a Crime Stoppers operator when you call back to check on the status of the information you have given. You must call Crime Stoppers. We cannot call you, because we never ask for your phone number.
In the meantime, we pass your information on to the appropriate law enforcement agency, which takes action based on your information and reports back to us on whether it led to the solving or prevention of a crime.
When you call us back and give us your code number, we check with law enforcement to see whether your information was useful. If it has led to an arrest and indictment, you receive a cash reward.
To receive that reward, we instruct you to come to a public place at a specified time and date, where a Crime Stoppers volunteer make the payment. Rewards are paid out in cash, no matter what the amount.
Crime Stoppers pays a reward of up to $1,000 on all felony crimes committed in Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford Counties.
Anonymity
The promise of anonymity for callers is Crime Stoppers most powerful weapon in the fight against crime. We do not have caller ID. We do not record phone calls. Not ever. Information given to Crime Stoppers is protected under Illinois Public Act 094-0174, AN ACT concerning privileged communications.
