MassDOT is in the process of implementing a lane constriction on the Main Street Bridge. The southside lane (eastbound) has a structural steel member that is severely compromised and they will be adjusting the lanes to ensure that traffic is not passing over it. There will be no weight restriction at this time as the rest of the Bridge is in good condition. They will be placing jersey barriers and restriping the lanes to allow for two lanes of traffic to continue using the Bridge. The process of repairs will take years to go through as the planning/funding/design/permitting and construction process can take an extended period of time.

National Public Safety Telecommunications Week is a time to recognize and honor the dispatchers who act as a liaison between the public and emergency services during times of need.

Here in Pepperell, our dispatching is handled professionally by the Patriot Regional Emergency Communications Center and its dedicated employees.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, public safety telecommunicators receive 240 million 911 calls each year. No matter the circumstances, each call requires dispatchers to remain composed as they coordinate with first responders to ensure the community’s safety.

PPD would like to thank all of our partners at PRECC!

Veterans Day is observed on Nov. 11 each year to honor and recognize veterans everywhere and thank them for their service, including members of our own department who served in the military.

Veterans Day is a chance to reflect on the country’s history and the sacrifices that have led to the freedoms we enjoy. It is an opportunity to reach out to and connect with the veterans who have given so much to protect their communities.

Their dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our country and the protection of its citizens do not go unnoticed. We thank them for their service not only today, but every day.

The PPD would like to thank all of our Veterans!

Halloween Trick or Treat Hours

The Town of Pepperell will be celebrating Halloween on Friday, October 31st from 6:00-8:00PM. Please watch out for our little ghosts and goblins while driving town roads!

Halloween Safety Tips!

With Halloween approaching, it is important to consider the potential hazards the holiday brings for participants of all ages.

Children should be dressed appropriately for the weather and wear reflective attire or carry flashlights to ensure they can be seen in the dark. Young trick-or-treaters should always be accompanied by an adult. Older children should be reminded of how to trick-or-treat safely, and should use the “buddy system” to make sure no one walks alone.

Drivers should be extra cautious and drive slowly, paying careful attention to trick-or-treaters who may be unaware of the traffic.

Adults attending parties should make a plan to get home safely if they intend to drink, such as using a designated driver or rideshare option, and hosts should ensure guests who drink do not get behind the wheel.

Additional Halloween safety tips can be found on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Food and Drug Administration websites.
