Beginning tomorrow (Tuesday July 28) through Friday, Duke’s Root Control, Inc. (“Duke’s”) will be evaluating the sewer mains and laterals through smoke testing, which is a process in which non-toxic, non-flammable liquid smoke is pressurized through the sewer mains. Defects within the system are noted for repair by the crews. You do not need to be present for the test. This method of testing may require representatives from Duke’s to access manholes located within the Right-of-Way and/or utility easements, including those on private property but within the utility easement as well as crews may be noting defects around your property. Smoke Testing does not impact any operation of the sewer and there will be no disruption of service at any point. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. All Duke’s representatives will have identification badges and will be wearing company uniforms.
Please feel free to contact Duke’s at (888) 620-0010 or the City of Perkins at 405-547-2445 at any time.
For a helpful video on the process, please go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XepjMRgiXYM or visit https://www.dukes.com/solutions/sewer-evaluation-services/smoke-dye-testing/ for more information.

Smoke and Dye testing is an effective method used to identify potential sources of inflow in sewer systems and locate and evaluate the pipe connections.

📢 Community Notice: Active Shooter Training at Perkins High School – Thursday & Friday

The Perkins Police Department, along with several partner agencies, will be conducting active shooter response training at Perkins High School this Thursday and Friday.

This training uses simunition rounds (non-lethal training ammunition), so residents in the area may hear gunshot-like sounds during this time. There is no cause for alarm — this is a planned, controlled training exercise designed to keep our schools and community safer.

We want to thank the Perkins Police Department, the Payne County Sheriff's Office and all participating agencies for their commitment to preparedness and public safety.

If you have any questions, please contact the Perkins Police Department at 405-547-2855.

Thank you for your understanding!

💧 New Water Tower Update – We Appreciate Your Patience! 💧

We're excited to share that we are beginning the process of filling Perkins' new water tower on the west side of town! This is a major milestone for our community and another investment in Perkins' future.

As we slowly fill the tower over the coming days, residents on the west side of town may notice periods of lower-than-normal water pressure. Our crews are filling the tower gradually to help maintain satisfactory water pressure throughout the process.

If your water pressure becomes too low for normal household use, please let us know so we can evaluate the situation and make adjustments as needed. Your feedback will help us monitor the system during this transition.

The good news doesn't stop there! We have also secured funding and will soon begin the bidding process for additional water line improvements that will better connect the west and east side pressure zones. Those improvements will strengthen our water system and help reduce pressure issues as Perkins continues to grow. While those upgrades won't be completed immediately, they represent another important step toward a more reliable water system.

Growth can sometimes come with temporary challenges, but these are the kinds of challenges that come from building a stronger community. We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma, whose support has helped make this project possible.

Together, we're investing in a brighter future and making Perkins an even better place to live, work, and play.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support as we continue improving the infrastructure that serves our community.
