Good morning Perkins!

Today’s forecasted high winds and low humidity will create high to very high fire conditions this afternoon. Please delay an outdoor burning today and check any controlled burns you may have had over the weekend. If you see smoke, please call 911. Early warning gives us a better chance to control the fire. Big fires start small. Help us keep you and your neighbors safe.

Good morning Perkins!

We were very fortunate to have been awarded more than a pallet of canned drinking water by the National Volunteer Fire Council and Anheuser Busch. The water was provided through the Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters program and will serve as a vital source of hydration for our firefighters as we prepare for wildfire season. The local distributor for Anheuser Busch delivered the pallet last week. Thank you NVFC and Anheuser Busch for your support! Details on this program can be found at www.NVFC.org/water #anheuserbusch #nvfc #firefighterhydration

Good evening Perkins!

YOUR Perkins volunteer firefighters are back at it for more Tuesday night training. Tonight’s training was on the ISO alternative water supply drill. The goal is to achieve a sustained flow on the fire and a sustained water supply. This drill replicates the needs in an area with no or no nearby fire hydrants. It can also help to lower insurance rates for those properties outside the city limits.

We are doing our part to keep you safe.

Good morning Perkins!

You may have noticed the strong northerly winds this morning. The winds are forecasted to be strong today and stronger on Friday. Please delay any outdoor burning until the wind speeds decrease. The wild land fuels are dormant, dry and primed to burn. If you seem smoke, please call 911. Details are below from the NWS in Norman.

Be safe Perkins!

Strong northerly winds will be seen today and tomorrow, with the strongest winds expected on Friday. If driving, exercise caution, especially on east to west oriented roads. With the strong wind and low humidities, fire weather conditions will also be a concern. All outdoor burning should be postponed. Remember to secure light weight objects such as trash cans and lawn furniture, unless you want to share with your neighbors.

Good evening Perkins!

Earlier today, the PFD responded to a grass fire on highway 33, 1/4 west of Country Club Road. With the help of the Coyle and Stillwater fire departments, the fire was contained and controlled. The fire involved multiple round hay bales that are still burning. The bales are all within a burned area. The area down wind of the bales has burned also. We are checking this fire frequently. Please do not call 911 to report this particular incident. We appreciate all those that have thus far.

I want to give a special shout out to the crew from Perkins Fire Department that came to our house and rendered aid to my wife Gladys Marie Varnell this afternoon. They were here quickly took great care of her until the ambulance arrived to transport her to Stillwater Medical Center. Gladys and I both appreciate your professionalism and want to say thank you.
A huge THANK YOU to Perkins Fire Dept for the help tonight. True professionals at their jobs!
Had a great time and some great training tonight. Thanks for having me. Stay safe and we will see you Thursday.
Hey, I just wanted to say a big Thank You, to the two firemen, getting off work this morning. My wife fell down out side our shop, behind the fire station. They stopped and made sure she was ok, then helped get her to her feet!!! Thank You!! Thank You!!
I'm missing my Pepper girl. We live in the trailer house at Benchmark Animal Hospital in Perkins. She got out 9/28/17 @ 7am, I didn't realize my back yard fence was open, when I let the dogs out. She and her sister Papi have gotten put before but has always comes back, together. But around 10am her sister came back without her, so she may have gotten very lost and just wondering around. If you see her please call me. She is very sweet but can be timid, she will most likely roll over if approached. She is vaccinated, and microchipped but doesn't have her colla and tags on.... Please help me find her!!! If you see her call her over and please call or text me @ 405-614-5467 or the clinic at 405-547-8381 Thank you!!!!
