Conditions are drying out again following the recent light rainfall event. The combination of very low RH values and gusty winds will raise the threat for wildfires Tuesday.

Good afternoon folks, please do not burn this weekend. Extreme fire conditions are forecasted for the whole state. PLEASE DO NOT BURN.

⚠️ The National Weather Service has issued a Significant fire danger for most of Mississippi on Saturday (3/28/26) from 11 AM to 7 PM. Open burning should not be attempted as fires are more likely to spread in these conditions. Please follow local burn bans, secure tow chains, and dispose of ci******es properly.

Good morning Big Level Community, I know this doesn't show our counties yet, but chances are, if they are under severe fire watch weather Saturday and Sunday, we will be very close to dangerous conditions also. Please check weather. Any humidity below 50% and any wind can make for a bad day. Please do not burn unless you have the proper control burn management training. Burning small piles in your yard can turn into a big fire in a hurry. Please wait until conditions are better to do so. Thanks.

Good afternoon, folks, if you don't have to burn, please do not do so. Conditions are not the best to just go out and light that pile of leaves on fire. If you do not have the proper equipment or knowledge to burn, please do not do so. Conditions will not be the best for you to burn for a while. Yes, there are large control burns going on and they have the equipment and knowledge to do so. As of now, we are not under a Burn Ban, but conditions may soon force us to be. Thanks.

🚨 RED FLAG WEATHER ALERT – SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2026 🚨
📅 Time: 9 AM to 6 PM CST
📍 Wiggins, MS & Southeast Mississippi

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for much of southeast Mississippi, including Wiggins, due to critical fire weather conditions expected Sunday.

🔥 What This Means:
• Low relative humidity (around 20–25%) makes fuels (grass, brush, leaves) very dry.
• Strong northwesterly winds (15–25 mph, with higher gusts) can quickly spread any fire that starts.
• This combination creates an elevated risk of rapid fire spread and dangerous fire behavior.

⚠️ Take Action:
• Avoid all outdoor burning or activities that could spark flames.
• Secure equipment that can create sparks (e.g., chainsaws, mowers).
• Report any smoke or fire immediately by calling 911.

Stay safe and stay weather aware! 🔥🌬️🧯

Please be aware of the weather conditions tomorrow.

Good morning Big Level Community and Stone County, today is a beautiful day out there, but the Humidity is already low and wind is already high. Today is not a good day to light those leaves on fire or piles of limbs on fire. Low Humidity and Wind isn't for the inexperienced person to burn. If you have never control burned before today might not be the day you want to start. As always, before starting a control burn, please make sure you call the MS Forestry Commission for a permit.

02/07/2026

Good morning Big Level Community and Stone County, burning season is upon us. There will be smoke drifting everywhere for the next few months. Smoke can and will travel for several miles. There could be a control burn in another county and the smoke drift over us. Just because you see smoke or smell smoke doesn't always mean that it is right near you. Be mindful of this before just calling in smoke in the area.
