To quickly bring you up to speed, I will share with you that we had our 2nd REC meeting of the year, at which time a new chairperson was to be elected. After dinner was served and people were still enjoying their dessert, the election process began, and Mrs. She gave a heartfelt conservative values laden acceptance speech and seemed to be off to a good start. Several of us had questions and sugges
tions for the new chairwoman, but the Vice chairman who had been acting Chair for the past 2 months Would not step aside and take a seat so that the new chairwoman could conduct the rest of the meeting and answer our questions. He expressed that he was tired of standing on his feet and that he wanted to adjourn the meeting. I politely suggested that he should take a seat and allow Miss Moody to step up to the podium and answer more questions, and she did. While I was I was making suggestions to her and posing my questions, someone in the audience interrupted me and yelled, "I make a Motion to Adjourn the meeting." I was stunned at this blatant disrespect. Most everyone else in the hall was shocked, but nobody objected or called for Point of Order according to Robert's Rules. Not even Earl Swann, who is the sergeant at arms. A female closest to me, hastily Second the Motion and the meeting was adjourned abruptly. Clearly because certain people would not be allowed to express opinions and ask questions in a public forum, on Friday some of us, took to the TCRP page and posted our opinions. I also posted a copy of Robert's Rules, which clearly delineates the order of conduct and the responsibility of the Sergeant at Arms. By Saturday afternoon, that page was also taking down. Hmm.... Democrats aren't the only ones that will censor you for speaking truth to power.
