Demond Smith found guilty of Possession of Methamphetamine after jury trial — sentenced to 15 years in prison without parole.

Grateful for the work of the Houston County Sheriff’s Office in stopping this South Carolina native and career drug dealer before he could distribute m**hamphetamine throughout the streets of Houston County! Miguel Cortez pleads guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute — sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Excellent proactive community policing by the Centerville Police Department led to this out-of-town drug dealer being picked up before he could flood the streets of Houston County with m**h. Cortez was prosecuted by Assistant D.A. Mike Smith of our office.

A Lawrenceville man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of m**hamphetamine with intent to distribute and banished from Houston County and neighboring counties.

Leroy Layton pleads guilty on the morning of trial in child abuse case where he took and stored lewd photographs of a minor -- sentenced to 20 years with the first 19 to serve in prison.

We are grateful for the work of Sgt. Bennett Lashley with the Houston County Sheriff's Office Juvenile Investigations Division in bringing a child predator to justice. Layton was prosecuted by Assistant D.A. Brandi Holland of our office.

Parris Bighems pleads guilty to Trafficking Methamphetamine — sentenced to 30 years with the first 10 years to serve in prison.

We are thankful for the focused investigation of the Warner Robins Police Department’s NIU in this case, and for the dedicated approach of Assistant D.A. Mike Smith in prioritizing the prosecution of major drug traffickers like this defendant, who distributed nothing less than the potential to destroy lives every time he sold m**hamphetamine in our community.

Howard Spann pleads guilty to felony-grade Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officers -- sentenced to 10 years in prison.

High-speed flights from police are never victimless crimes. Every time a fleeing suspect chooses to turn one of our community's roadways into a racetrack, innocent families are put at risk. We thank the Houston County Sheriff's Office, Warner Robins Police Department, and numerous other agencies that assisted during this lengthy chase. Spann was prosecuted by Assistant D.A. Mike Smith of our office.
