Kathy Tuhn and I are helping again this year with the soup dinner the night before thanksgiving. We know how hard you all work getting Thursday’s meal ready, take Wednesday off, have a good meal and know that any donation is going to help support St Pat’s Giving Tree!

Good evening! The last 24 hours have been quite an adventure. Luckily for me, I have been extremely busy with some photo/video projects and that has been a great distraction. But I do want to thank everyone who not only voted for me but who did vote at all. I've never been on this side of the ballot before and even though I prevailed with some other great folks, I can't help but feel sympathy for the two that didn't make it. It truly makes me feel empathy for them and guilt that I did make it through. With that being said, I want those that didn't make it to not give up, keep up the fight! I will not take my opportunity lightly as I feel like this position is more important now than ever to have been entrusted by so many of my friends and neighbors. I'm very excited for this next chapter and can't wait to get started! Thanks!

Last year the elementary school changed the process for dropping kids off in the morning. It was such a frustrating process as a parent to maneuver through this maze prior to their change. When you look on to this process now, not quite a year later it looks so simple and easy. It’s issues like this that makes me want to me on the board. I want to help with these issues. If we can solve the little issues we will have no problem with the big issues.



By the way, I had to wait around nearly 20 minutes this morning to even see the parking lot get this “congested”.

I was fortunate enough to attend the Perry SIAC committee meeting Monday night. What a wonderful way to express concerns and make your voice heard in regards to the school system. It’s less formal than the school board meetings and is a great opportunity to express ideas. If you have an interest in seeing how this committee works, please reach out to me about the details of the next meeting!

Perry Community School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC)

This committee is required by Iowa Education law and is composed of parents, students, teachers, administrators, and community members. This committee is responsible for making recommendations to the school board about major educational needs of the district, student learning goals (for the district annual progress report), and long-range goals that address, at a minimum, reading, mathematics, and science achievement. All parents, students, and community members are invited to attend these meetings; the meeting schedule, agendas and meeting minutes can be found using the link at the left.
