There have been inquiries regarding a recent post concerning the legality of discharging fireworks within the city limits of Perry. It has long been established that the use of fireworks within these boundaries is prohibited. The rationale for this prohibition includes the potential for fire hazards, the distress caused to animals that may flee in panic, the fear experienced by children due to loud noises, and the need to show respect for service members who suffer from PTSD.
The issue of storing fireworks pertains primarily to individuals who purchase large quantities and keep them in residential areas, thereby increasing the risk of fire-related incidents that could result in property damage or personal injury.
It is important to note that these regulations are not new, and the associated fines have not increased in several years.
The shaded gray areas indicated are located within the corporate city limits of Perry. Law enforcement officers will continue to monitor activities at Perry Lake, as they have consistently done in the past.
