The DOF will be burning the infields at the airport today. If it looks like the south of Perry is burning down, it’s the airport fields.

Evening everyone. Unfortunately, there will not be any garbage pickup tomorrow. There are still many trees down in the roads, countless amounts of wires hanging too low. Those trucks are quite large and can hit things that a normal sized vehicle won’t hit. Anyway, we’re shooting for Monday or Tuesday of next week, Lord willing. We have had clean up and maintenance crews working around the clock since before this thing started. Tomorrow at about 6:00 am, several hundred power line trucks from Duke Energy and Tri County Electric as well as their contractors will be leaving the Perry-Foley Airport and deploying all over the city and the county in force. They will join the maintenance and clean up crews with working 16 hour shifts around the clock until this nightmarish event becomes just a bad memory. Keep everyone in your prayers. A Herculean effort is being performed to maintain and restore our services. WK

In addition to serving the flying public, Perry Foley Airport also serves local industries that depend on our local airport to fly in specialty replacement items used in manufacturing processes. Many manufacturing plants that depend on running 24/7 will only locate in areas with quick access to an airport. This is so they can have these specialty items flown directly to an easy access airport within minutes of the plant.

A late night full moon emergency medical jet patient transfer. Perry-Foley Airport has been serving EMS aviation patients for many years. Our county airport is utilized by emergency medical jets from all over the USA for patient transfers to and from North Florida. Our airport is also a regular refueling location for our own Shands Cair 3 helicopter and many other medical emergency helicopters flying patients across the southeast.
