Good afternoon Taylor County!

The Taylor Senior Citizens Center is signing up with second harvest to receive food so we can start a food pantry for all Taylor County resident 60 and over. The idea is a pantry for seniors only to come and get what they need on designated days or if law enforcement calls bc they have a Senior that needs food (happens all the time) that they came in contact with also already assembled box of food to be passed out on designated day...

For this to become a reality we are in need of refrigerator/ freezer, deep freezer and shelves. If you would like to be apart of getting this started and would like to donate one of these items or donate money to purchase we would greatly appreciate it!! Just call or come by the Center on ash st!!

Good afternoon Taylor County! I wanted to remind the Seniors of Taylor County that Rick Scotts office WILL BE HERE as well and the other location in Perry tomorrow. There was misinformation given to staff about this. Any questions you may have about Medicare, Social Security benefits or VA benefit question or complaints they will be here to help you!!

Good afternoon Taylor county!!

The senior center has a need! We have a painting class about to start in the afternoons once or twice a week and we need 16×20 painting canvas, paint, brushes ect... so if u have anything u would like to donate or find it in your heart to purchase supplies and bring to the center we would greatly appreciate the support.

Good afternoon Taylor county..

I am looking for people that would like to come and speak, do arts and crafts, painting classes, ball room dancing, county line dancing classes.. basically anything that the senior at the center would enjoy to hear about or participate in.... if u know of anyone or would be interested in coming please let me know... u may call me at my office 584-4924 ext 2 or message me on here.....

Supporting our senior is about education and fun as well as donations and I would like to fill our calandar up with fun activities and educational speakers!!!

Thank you all for the support for the smoked chicken dinner!! This was a prepaid fundraiser and we sold out yesterday!! Thank u sheriff Wayne Padgett for providing the chicken!! Hope u all enjoyed your meal and the next fundraiser will be announced soon...

It's fundraiser time at the senior center.... we are having a smoked chicken dinner with potato salad, bake beans, roll and bottle of water for $12.00. This is being held January 27th and there will be 2 pick up times 11:30-1:30 for lunch and 4:30-5:30 for dinner.. business with 5 or more pre paid orders will be delivered to you!! Please message me or stop by the center at 800 w ash st to get your ticket today!!

Sheriff Padgett is providing the smoked chicken done by JoelandJenn Baldree and bake beans and potato salad by Goodman so will definitely be a yummy plate u don't wanna miss out on!!

Still getting pictures sent in 🥰..Santa, Mrs clause and their elf even stopped by the Senior Center Christmas party to brighten the seniors day, take gift requests and pass out candy canes. Another huge thank you to Michael Thrift his wife Charlotte and helper from the VFW Post 9225 for coming out!

I have been ask several times about becoming a client at the senior center and I wanted to put this out there for public information and explain how this works... all seniors 60 and over are welcome to come and enjoy socialization and play games. They play dice and some other games each morning. Coffee and light snacks are offered. We have bingo at 1230 each day as well. Our C-1 program is our lunch program and the state and federal government gives us a amout of billable clients each year that we can have for this meal program, a budget that we have to earn by billing meals served each day, they don't just give us a lump some each year. Right now that number is full but unfortunately not all clients come on a regular basis and unless they ask to be taken off we can't just remove them. This causes budget cuts and huge loss of funds each year. That's where donations, fundraisers and sponsorship comes in to help us keep our center open. IT does take seniors coming regular on this program to keep the center open. The older Americans act laws say we can not turn anyone away and we do not, we do ask for a donation they are comfortable with to help pay for their meal. So if u have a loved one that is in need of socialization please fill free to come!! There is a waiting list on the C-1 program they maybe put on that pays for their meal. Please share this information and help me get the word out! I don't want to see any senior in need of socialization and not be aware this is an open to the public center...
