Hello Perry Village Residents,
I’m excited to announce that during last nights council meeting, we filled two council seats with residents John Nicely and Paul Hlabse.
Below are their bio’s and a picture to put a face to the names.
John Nicely will be filling the vacated seat of Mike Glover, and Paul Hlabse will be filling the seat made available last night by Elias Coss.
I would like to thank all the candidates that expressed an interest in joining council, and also thank our community as I work through all the changes.
John Nicely:
Brings more than four decades of business leadership, strategic planning, and organizational management to the Perry Village Council.
A 1980 graduate of Madison High School, John was born and raised in Madison, Ohio. His professional career took him to major cities across the United States and around the world, where he built a reputation as a collaborative leader who excels at bringing people together to solve problems, improve organizations, and deliver results. In 2023, John fully retired from his professional career, made Perry Village his home, and works as a bus driver for Perry Schools.
Throughout his career, John held executive leadership positions in sales, marketing, operations, supply chain management, and business development. He has served on senior leadership teams for multiple organizations and is known for team building, long-term strategic planning, and creating innovative solutions to complex challenges.
John earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University, graduating with dual majors in International Business and Marketing. He also completed the Executive MBA Program at Emory University.

Paul Hlabse :
Is a newly selected member of Perry Village Council who brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, operations management, team building, and continuous improvement, along with master's degrees in Business Administration and Organizational Management, to public service.
Throughout his career, he has led teams of more than 100 employees, managed multimillion-dollar operations, and built a reputation for solving complex problems through collaboration, accountability, and strategic planning. His experience includes executive leadership roles in Northeast Ohio manufacturing, where he has consistently improved operational performance, developed employees, and fostered cultures centered on safety, transparency, and clear communication.
Paul has proudly called Perry home for the past 36 years and, together with his wife, Kylii, built their home in Perry Village three years ago, where they are raising their daughter, Parker, founder of the community’s free produce stand, Parker’s Produce. A lifelong advocate for serving others, Paul believes strong communities are built through responsible leadership, open communication, and thoughtful decision-making.
As a Perry Village Council Member, Paul is committed to preserving the community's small-town character while supporting responsible growth, fiscal responsibility, and initiatives that enhance the quality of life for residents.
He values listening to the concerns of citizens, working collaboratively with fellow council members, and making decisions that reflect the best interests of the community.
Outside of his professional career, Paul is an author, entrepreneur, CrossFit enthusiast, gardener, and active community volunteer.
He has contributed to collaborative publications focused on personal growth and purpose, and his debut novel, Violent Disturbance, explores the lasting consequences of violence and the importance of personal responsibility staged in Perry, OH.
Whether leading in business, writing, or serving his hometown, Paul is passionate about creating meaningful, lasting impact through integrity, service, open communications, and continuous improvement.
