This PEP (Performance Evaluation Program) audit is a first for the Tribe’s ambient air quality monitoring program. The 24-hour sampling event will start tonight at midnight and end tomorrow at midnight.

Please limit ATV traffic around the station. The results will help validate the BAM1020’s hourly readings.

A Technical System Audit (TSA) is being planned for the Sipayik Tribal Air Quality Monitoring Station (STAQMS) in 2027. It is another check to make sure the Tribe is operating within acceptable parameters. It is an overall check of instruments and data review.

At the Air Quality Monitoring Committee Annual Spring Meeting. MEDEPBAQ has been a great partner since the Tribe started its Tribal Air Quality Monitoring Program. BAQ (Bureau of Air Quality) has loaned equipment for the Tribal Air Program to use. Thanks to the Biden Administration, the Tribal Air Program was able to get its own PM2.5 BAM1020. It has been running since 2023. The BAM replaced another older BAM1020 that came from New Hampshire. I heard it is up and running at another state site.

STAQMS (Sipayik Tribal Air Quality Monitoring Station) is by Kcipeskiyak and also by the Sipayik Elementary School (SES). The ArcGIS Storymap was created by Rhydian W. G. Shelley for her JHU GIS Capstone.

Monthly Flow check passed. Weather is cold and cloudy. Will not calibrate parameters at this time. WIll wait for weather where it is warmer and not cold.

All parameters were within acceptable ranges.

Better and calmer day to get the leak and flow checks done on the BAM1020. Both checks passed.
