The City will host a dedication ceremony for a new Native American Burials Monument at Hood Park on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 4 p.m.

The monument is the culmination of a yearlong effort to research and document Native American burials at the site. It will honor the 24 individuals buried in unmarked graves and help visitors recognize Hood Park as a Native American burial ground.

The dedication ceremony will include the unveiling of the monument and remarks from local Perrysburg historian Gary L. Franks, Taylor Moyer of the Black Swamp InterTribal Foundation and Kim Mahaney Kennedy, daughter of Joyce Mahaney, who conducted reburial ceremonies at Hood Park in 1991 and 1995.
