🚒 Hands-on training helps keep our firefighters ready!

Today through Wednesday, the Perrysburg Fire Division is hosting training at Fire Division Headquarters featuring the Fire Blast trailer, with instruction from the Ohio State Fire Marshal.

We’re grateful to the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office for bringing this valuable training resource to Perrysburg and providing local fire service training at no cost. Thank you for sharing your expertise and helping provide our firefighters with valuable hands-on training opportunities!

The City recently passed a new ordinance establishing requirements for golf carts and other low-speed vehicles operated on City streets. The ordinance takes effect today, October 15.

Under Ordinance 50-2026, covered vehicles must pass a City inspection and meet applicable safety requirements. Vehicles must also be properly titled, registered and insured.

Here are a few key rules to know:

-Drivers must be at least 16 years old and hold a valid driver's license.
-Travel is limited to City streets with posted speed limits of 25 mph or less, with a limited exception for crossing higher-speed intersections.
-Operation on sidewalks and shared-use, multi-use and bicycle-only paths is prohibited.
-All occupants must remain seated and wear seat belts while the vehicle is moving.
-Golf cart owners and other affected vehicle operators should review the requirements on the City's website before driving on City streets.

Please join us in welcoming three new part-time firefighter/EMTs to Perrysburg Fire!

This morning, Brady Thomas, Gage Hayes and Braylon Ball were officially sworn in by Mayor Mark A. Weber.

This is a notable milestone for the Fire Division, as it marks the first time in many years that Perrysburg has welcomed new part-time firefighters to the team.

We’re excited to have Brady, Gage and Braylon on board and look forward to the important work they’ll do to help protect and serve Perrysburg.

🔥 It’s Fire Prevention Week, and Perrysburg Fire is helping local students learn what to do if a fire occurs.

Perrysburg Fire Marshal Aaron Harwell shares how the Fire Division is using its Fire Safety trailer to teach elementary school students at Perrysburg Schools and St. Rose School about basic fire safety, including the importance of having a safe meeting place outside the home.

Parents can help reinforce this lesson at home by talking with their children about where the family will meet if they need to leave the house during a fire.

Take a few minutes this week to talk about your family’s fire safety plan and make sure everyone knows where to meet. 🚒

We recently helped install smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms in a resident’s home, along with a specialized bed shaker alert device for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.

This device monitors smoke and CO alarms, can distinguish between the two, and provides a strong physical alert through a bed shaker. This can provide an important added layer of protection for people who may not be able to hear a traditional alarm while sleeping.

If you or someone you know is deaf, hard of hearing, or may benefit from this type of alerting device, please contact the Perrysburg Fire Division to learn more about available options and assistance.

And while we’re talking about alarms, take a few minutes to check yours:

✅ Test your smoke and CO alarms regularly
✅ Replace batteries when needed
✅ Replace smoke alarms that are 10 years old or older

Working alarms save lives. Make sure everyone in your home has an alerting system that meets their needs.

🔥 LIVE FIRE TRAINING 🔥

Over the next three days, members of the Perrysburg Fire Division will be conducting live fire training evolutions at the Maumee Public Safety Training Center.

Firefighters from Perrysburg Fire Division, Perrysburg Twp. Fire/EMS, and Northwood Fire and Rescue Department will be training together under realistic live-fire conditions, practicing fire attack, hose-line advancement, search operations, ventilation, and coordinated fireground operations.

Training alongside our neighboring departments helps strengthen the teamwork and communication we rely on when responding together to emergencies throughout our area.

A big thank you to the City of Maumee Fire & EMS for providing an excellent facility where our firefighters can train safely in realistic conditions.

Safe Kids of Greater Toeldo is leading a Car Seat Check Event at Perrysburg Fire Division's Fort Meigs Fire Station (Station #39) on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Perrysburg-area parents are invited to bring their child's car seat to have it inspected and, if needed, adjusted or properly fitted.

Appointments are preferred and can be scheduled by calling 419-291-7945.

This is a great opportunity to make sure your child's car seat is installed correctly and providing the protection it is designed to provide.
