Last week we conducted our yearly training on bucket truck rescues alongside the City’s Department of Public Service.

The training gives firefighters hands-on experience rescuing an incapacitated person from a bucket truck while they are elevated high above the ground. It also gives our firefighters and Public Service crews an opportunity to work together, build rapport and better understand how each team can assist the other during an emergency.

While this scenario could involve a City employee experiencing an emergency while working in a bucket, the skills practiced can apply to anyone who may need to be rescued from elevated bucket truck equipment.

🚑👶 A Special Delivery for C-Shift! 👶🚑

On Saturday, July 25, our C-Shift crews had the privilege of helping welcome a new member of our community into the world!

When labor progressed faster than expected, our firefighter/paramedics stepped in and safely delivered a healthy baby boy, Emerald, before arriving at the hospital. Mom and baby are both doing well, and we couldn't be happier for their family.

While our crews train extensively for moments like these, it's not every day that they get to witness the very beginning of a new life. It was an incredible team effort and a reminder that the Perrysburg Fire Division is there for our community through every type of emergency—from life's most challenging moments to its most joyful.

This photo was shared with permission after Emerald, his parents, and his sibling recently stopped by the station to personally thank the crew who helped bring him into the world. Visits like these are a special reminder of why we do what we do.

Please join us in congratulating the proud family on the arrival of baby Emerald and recognizing our C-Shift crew for their professionalism, compassion, and outstanding care.

Welcome to the world, Emerald! ❤️👶🚒
