Yesterday evening just before 7:00, Perryton firefighters were alerted to respond to a vehicle fire in South East Perryton. Perryton Police Dispatchers immediately began receiving additional calls reporting that the fire had spread to a single family dwelling. First arriving firefighters arrived to find three vehicles and a structure on fire. An offensive fire attack was undertaken and the fire was contained. Damage to the structure was kept as minimal as possible, and a vast majority of the contents were saved. Occupants were able to self evacuate and were uninjured. Thanks to our partners at the Perryton Police Department and OGH EMS.

Busy day today for the members of the Perryton Fire Department. 🚒🔥

Our first call came in around 11:00 AM for a grass fire approximately 23 miles southwest of Perryton. Upon arrival, crews found a small grass fire reportedly caused by a sparking transformer. Power crews responded to inspect the transformer and at that time found nothing wrong.

Our second call came in around 5:00 PM for a grass fire in town. Crews arrived to find a small fire burning in brush and quickly worked to contain it.

While crews were operating on that scene, a third call came in — back at the location of this morning’s fire. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the same pole and transformer suspected in the earlier fire had caught fire, burning the pole and causing it, along with an adjacent pole, to fall.

We are thankful for the opportunity to serve our community both within the city and throughout the county. We also want to thank our dispatchers, utility crews, and all responding personnel for their hard work and teamwork throughout the day.

Stay safe, Perryton. 🇺🇸:
