Perryton Firefighters were dispatched to a roadside start wildland fire yesterday afternoon just after 2:30. Due to a quick response by firefighters, the fire was contained to a small area. Special thanks to our public safety partners at the Ochiltree County Sheriffs office and OGH EMS for the traffic control and medical standby due to the heat.

Monday’s weekly training for Perryton Firefighters focused on pump operations for our members currently in their driver/operator certification course, and attack line advancement proficiency for firefighters. Firefighters ended the evening responding to a motor vehicle collision south of Perryton.

Around 1:00 AM this morning, Perryton Firefighters along with Perryton Police officers and OGH EMS assisted 3 people (one of which was experiencing a medical condition) trapped in a stalled elevator at a local hotel. Then just before 3:00 AM, PFR along with the Ochiltree County Sheriffs office responded to a truck that had a fire on the flatbed trailer. Fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Got a little relief from the 100°+ heat and a break from fighting fires as we got to help welcome back the PHS band for the 26-27 school year by completely soaking them! They had a blast and gave us another chance to be in the community.

Today’s elevated fire weather caused the firehouse bells to ring today just before 4:40 PM for a grass fire in the Huntoon area of Ochiltree County. First arriving firefighters found a rapidly spreading grass fire with two structures and a propane tank endangered. Quick and aggressive actions by firefighters limited the fire spread to 4 acres and all structures were saved. Special thanks to our partners from the OGH EMS and the Ochiltree County Sheriffs Office for the assistance on the scene. Also thanks to the Booker Fire Department who was requested for Mutual Aid but was able to be canceled prior to their arrival

As the heat remains and fuels continue to dry, Perryton Firefighters responded to a grass fire just after 5:00 this evening south of Perryton. The fire was rapidly spreading towards a residence, quick and aggressive work by firefighters contained the fire to under 5 acres and the house was saved.

We have responded to fires multiple days in a row. Please continue to exercise extreme caution when towing trailers, discarding smoking materials, welding etc. We also thank you for your continued observance of the county burn ban.

Perryton Firefighters have spent the recent days of the current heatwave responding to a variety of incidents to include multiple grass fires, a natural gas line struck, assisting EMS and traffic collisions. Monday evening was spent catching up on fire hydraulics training. With the heat and fuels rapidly drying out, Ochiltree County has extended the burn ban. Stay safe

It’s been a busy weekend for Perryton Firefighters, Saturday began with a grass fire in the Huntoon area, next a broken gas line in town. Saturday evening, a skills testing night for Firefighter 1&2 skills was held for firefighters from Perryton and Canadian. This morning, Ladder 71 is showing itself off at TEEX in College Station before it is prepared for delivery and will begin serving Ochiltree County.

Congratulations to Firefighter Jacob Anderson for passing his FF2 skills, and congratulations to Firefighter Cory Graves and PFF Logan Godino on passing your FF1 skills.
