Happy Valentine’s Day from PHS FACS!💚

Our Foods I classes have had a busy two days cooking up heart-shaped pizzas and making chocolate covered strawberries in celebration of Valentine’s Day. We loved seeing all of their tasty creations😋

Today, January 20th, four FCCLA groups competed in Regional STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events at SEMO, and we couldn’t be more proud!

ALL four groups medaled, with two advancing to State in Springfield, MO this March! Even more impressive? Every group was made up of freshmen and sophomores who have been working tirelessly for months, giving up advisory time and staying after school. Their dedication truly paid off!

🎉 Results:
🥇 Interpersonal Communications – Adisyn Vernon and Grace Lohmann (Advancing to State)
🥇 Sports Nutrition – Hailey Geringer and Grace Bucheit (Advancing to State)
🥇 Chapter Service Project Display– Brylee Friedman, Sophie Michael, and Anthony Del Rosario
🥉 Entrepreneurship – Brooklynne Pingel and Lyza Chappius

A huge thank you to Molly Rogers and Hadley Hunt for volunteering as timekeepers and supporting evaluators at the competition!

On Saturday, January 17th, three of our FCCLA members were able to donate 125 hand-tied blankets to the shelter animals at Southeast Missouri pets. We are incredibly proud of our members who participated in this Chapter Service Project.

📣Shoutout to Sophie Michael, Brylee Friedman, and Anthony Del Rosario for leading our chapter.

On December 11th, Perryville High School and Career & Technology Center FCCLA partnered with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive.

There were 53 donors total, with 24 of those being first time donors! We were able to collect 44 units total, which means even more than 44 hospital patients will potentially receive lifesaving transfusions!

Thank you to our students, staff, and community who came out to donate (or to support a donor).

We would also like to extend our gratitude to the following people for their efforts. Without their support, our blood drive would not have been possible:

• Our friends at the Perryville Area Career & Technology Center for allowing us to use their space

• Our assistant superintendent, Mr. Craig Hayden, who volunteered his time to shuttle students to and from the Career Center

• The amazing staff at the American Red Cross
