When we learned that the sidewalk near the Route 440 overpass was not safely accessible, I immediately contacted the New Jersey Department of Transportation and asked that it be addressed before students returned to school.

NJDOT responded that same evening, despite the severe weather, and installed a temporary walkway to restore safer pedestrian access. This is not the final repair. NJDOT will return to complete the permanent concrete work.

I appreciate their quick response and commitment to resolving this important safety concern.

Cuando nos informaron que la acera cerca del paso elevado de la Ruta 440 no estaba accesible de manera segura, me comuniqué de inmediato con el Departamento de Transporte de Nueva Jersey y solicité que se atendiera antes del regreso de los estudiantes a clases.

As we begin September, I’m pleased to share that work is actively underway on First Street and Madison Avenue. Crews are completing the paving work while construction moves forward on a new 70-space public parking lot.

These improvements will provide additional public parking, better road conditions and access, improved lighting, and added security measures.

I appreciate the patience of our residents while this work continues and look forward to sharing more progress.

Al comenzar septiembre, me complace informar que los trabajos continúan activamente en First Street y Madison Avenue. Las cuadrillas están completando la pavimentación mientras avanza la construcción de un nuevo estacionamiento público con 70 espacios.

The Veterans Memorial Youth Complex is really starting to take shape! ⚾️⚽️

There’s a lot happening here, and I’m excited for our families to see it all come together.

Four new artificial turf fields, new scoreboards, batting cages and pitching areas, an improved concession stand and pavilion, expanded parking, security cameras, live streaming for games, and more.

This is a major investment in our young athletes and a complex that has been part of Perth Amboy for generations.

We’re getting closer! Stay tuned for details on the Grand Opening. I can’t wait to welcome everyone back. 🙌 — Mayor Helmin J. Caba

As part of our community’s commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the United States, this event will recognize the historic significance of City Hall Circle, which served as an encampment site for General Hugh Mercer's Flying Camp in 1776 during the American Revolution.

The planting of a Liberty Tree symbolizes the enduring values of freedom, unity, and civic pride that have shaped our nation and continue to inspire future generations.

Another great summer in Perth Amboy. 🍿🎬

Movie night at Harbortown brought families outside with their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy an evening together in their neighborhood.

Throughout the summer, we have continued working with our community partners to bring music, recreation, and family activities to neighborhoods across our city. Thank you to Harbortown and our Office of Recreation for helping us add another enjoyable night to the season.

Summer may be winding down, but our community programming continues. We look forward to sharing more with you this fall.

La noche de cine en Harbortown reunió a familias con sus sillas y mantas para disfrutar juntas de una noche en su propio vecindario.

What a way to close out our summer Art & Flow Concert Series!

Gio Sensacion, featuring Yomal Mora and Melvin Guitar, brought the Latin vibes and kept Bay City Amphitheater moving all night. Thank you to DJ Franklin and Orlando Abreu for adding even more music and dancing to the celebration.

The series was presented through a partnership between P.A.R.T.N.E.R. and the City of Perth Amboy’s Office of Recreation. It is part of P.A.R.T.N.E.R.’s qualified project for the Gateway Neighborhood through the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a summer filled with free live music, local art, culture, and community.

The celebration continues! We look forward to seeing everyone at our Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Saturday, October 3, at Patten Park.

🎶 ¡Qué gran manera de cerrar nuestra serie de conciertos de verano Art & Flow!

Gio Sensacion, junto a Yomal Mora y Melvin Guitar, llenó el Anfiteatro Bay City de ritmos latinos y puso a todos a bailar. También agradecemos a DJ Franklin y a Orlando Abreu por sumar aún más música y baile a la celebración.

La serie fue presentada mediante una colaboración entre P.A.R.T.N.E.R. y la Oficina de Recreación de la Ciudad de Perth Amboy. The images coming out of Nepal are heartbreaking. Families have lost loved ones, many people remain missing, and entire communities have been devastated by catastrophic flooding.

Here in Perth Amboy, many of our families understand what it means to build a life in one country while part of your heart remains in another. When tragedy strikes a homeland thousands of miles away, that distance does not make the pain any less real.

Our hearts are with the people of Nepal, the families waiting for news, and the first responders working under incredibly difficult conditions. We pray for those who have been lost, for the safe return of the missing, and for strength and healing in the difficult days ahead. — Mayor Helmin J. Caba

The market offers fresh fruits and vegetables, a deli counter, meats, and everyday groceries. The owners are also committed to keeping prices affordable for local families.

Representatives from the Perth Amboy Business Improvement Corporation joined the owners, their family, friends, and community members for yesterday’s grand opening.

Every small business brings its own products, service, and connection to the neighborhood. I thank the owners of Familia Freshmart for investing in Downtown Perth Amboy and wish them continued success.
