You can imagine our excitement! So after we spotted the Red-necked Phalarope, we sent pics to our friend Laurie, the local Audubon President, hoping she would agree with what we thought we were seeing. She agreed with our i.d. but couldn't make the trip up until the next day. She made the trip up Saturday to the location and shot this wonderful video of the Red-necked Phalarope doing its little circle feeding dance thingy that they do!

We discovered an Eastern Kingbird competing with swallows for food over a place thats been unofficially dubbed "Duck Pond." This is the same dead tree branches where we filmed the family of Green Heron only moments before.

Five Brothers... or Sisters? Anyway.. you can see only four in this video but the 5th Green heron was on a tree nearby.

Today was our first official migratory bird field trip to Mississinewa Lake. We had many wonderful sightings! Unfortunately, we couldn't film all of them. We had many warblers, including a Black and white. However, our lifer was the Red-necked phalarope! Wow! The Phalarope was hanging out with some Lesser yellowlegs, Least Sandpipers and some Killdeer and Semipalmated sandpipers.

The Mississinewa Lake had these ten Great Egrets this morning. Twelve egrets sighted all together! Binocular Girl has been waiting for this for ages!
