New Waverly Fire Department

Earlier today, firefighters from NWFD and Logansport Fire Department were dispatched to investigate a brush fire. This fire was in compliance with open burning and was being supervised. However, it did pose a potential risk of extending into a forested area as well as a hay field. With the extreme heat, we ask that residents of Miami Township hold off on burning brush and foliage until temperatures decline. This request is for the safety of our firefighters, as it could subject responders to unnecessary heat exhaustion.

Do you want to see the best fireworks show around? Well Saturday is your day! Join us at the Vernon residence on 950E just north of Logansport Rd. freworks start at dusk! This is a privately funded event, donations will be accepted at the end of the show at the Vernon's driveway.

Tonight members along with Walton Community Fire Department toured the solar farm. A representative from NextEra Energy explained the dangers of the facility as well as how to mitigate fires or other incidents that may occur within the field.
