Flag pole dedication--- 6 Year Anniversary
Thank you, Eric Autenrieth, Fire Chief, who began the service with remembrances of Nelson and his life as a member of the Department. Many happy thoughts were mentioned through those special years.
A Thank you to the following people who were instrumental in the flag pole at the new fire house:
The flags along with all the hardware and eagle were donated by Jesse & Coralie Pelkey in Memory
Of Nelson D. Pelkey, Jr. who was a member and then Fire Chief. Laura Horton, Nelson’s sister, will be planting some flowers and a rose bush at the base of the pole.
Thanks to the following, who made it possible for this dedication:
Arthur and Patricia Kern—Acquiring the flag pole
Verne Leach—designed and hand crafted then formed this cylinder to specifications the cylinder that fits inside the pole and secures the Eagle.
Mark Simeone—did the welding, which strengthen this cylinder to secure the eagle.
Pierce Machine Shop—supplied the special metal for the cylinder
Edward Richards---who designed and prepared the cement base
Dale Weeks & Francis Biagini for working together and erecting the flag pole
Fire Department: Obtaining the solar lights and installing at the base
Phantom ---for securing the Eagle on top
Deb Richards Cahill for taking photographs of this special dedication and posting on internet
Pastor Warren Scamman for offering a prayer, which completed this special dedication.
And all those who came to pay tribute, honor and their show of support in presenting this flag pole on Mother’s Day –May 12, 2013.
Do know all the mentioned above did this on their own time. This shows a true support of what can be accomplished when caring people come together to make their community better.
It did take a village to raise the Fire Department Flags. (Thanks from the Pelkey Family)
