At some point in the process we anticipate expanding the outage briefly while we remove the broken pole.

On an unrelated note, if you decide to trim trees near power lines:

A. Don't.
B. Reach out to us. We typically won't take your trees to the ground, but we will use qualified trimmers to cut branches back far enough that you can safely do what you need to do.

April 18th is National Lineman Appreciation Day, and we would like to recognize the efforts of Peru Utilities' own linemen, engineers, and technicians.

Their hard work has earned Peru Utilities the American Public Power Association Diamond Tier Reliable Public Power Provider Designation, the APPA Diamond Tier Safety Award, and the APPA Certificate of Excellence in Reliability. The RP3 designation, which lasts for three years, recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement. Criteria include sound business practices and a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity. The CoE in Reliability denotes that Peru Utilities is in the top quartile of all public power companies nationwide.

Of the 1400 American Public Power Association communities, 61 were awarded Diamond RP3, the highest level of designation. Including Peru Utilities, only 2 in Indiana were honored with this level of award!

We appreciate your dedication and willingness to put your lives on hold to keep the lights on.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Justin on completing his apprenticeship and becoming a Journeyman Lineman. Since starting with the company in 2022, Justin has shown a dedication to his career, and we are proud of his growth and the things he has accomplished.

The Peru Utilities curriculum is a Department of Labor recognized program and is in conjunction with the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association. It includes four years and 8000 hours of supervised on the job training, seven weeks of classroom and field instruction with TVPPA certified instructors, four workbooks, and a three day exam designed to incorporate all of the skills and knowledge an apprentice has been expected to learn and retain.
