The Peru Fire Department will now be taking applications for our upcoming hiring process in the first quarter of 2024. Applications may be picked up at the Main Fire Station, located at 85 W. Canal St., and on the City of Peru, Indiana - Mayor's Office website under the PERU FIRE DEPARTMENT tab (links below):

To be considered, applicants now must not have reached their 40th birthday by the date of hire per the 1977 Police and Firefighters Pension and Disability Fund Rules. This was recently signed into law and changed by Governor Holcomb from age 36 to 40. Applicants also need to be at least 21 years of age at time of hire.

A written mental aptitude test will be administered in the first quarter of 2024. Applicants that pass the written exam will also need to pass the Candidate Physical Ability Test (C-PAT) to be eligible for further consideration. More information on the CPAT exam is listed within the application packet.

Memorial Day Weekend is a special time to give thanks to all of the individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms and for our safety.
