FF Spotlight: Lt Robert Ankiewicz 🚨

Lt Ankiewicz is approaching his 35th year with the PFD!

His favorite memory with the PFD is going to the grade schools every October for fire prevention month and showing all of the kids the fire trucks and teaching them about fire safety! He loves being able to see their smiles and bring them joy.

A fun fact about Lt Ankiewicz is that in college, he was able to play a game of baseball on the movie site of "Field of Dreams" a year after the film debuted.

Thank you Robert for all your time and service to the people of Peru!

New Drone now in Service 🚁

Today, the Peru Fire Department officially placed our new drone into service.

This new tool provides us with an aerial view during emergencies, assisting with structure fires, search operations, storm damage assessments, and hazardous materials incidents.

It’s another tool in the toolbox to help us better serve the citizens of Peru!

The fire service is a profession often passed from one generation to the next. We have been fortunate to be able to experience that with these two at the PFD.

For Assistant Chief Jeff Camenisch and his son, Firefighter Carson Camenisch, that tradition has meant serving together here at Peru Fire.

Today, Carson heads to St. Louis Fire to begin the next chapter of his career. As fate would have it, their last call together was a structure fire.

We’re proud to have had Carson as part of the Peru Fire family and wish him the best in St. Louis.

FF Spotlight: Nicholas Curtin 🚨

FF Curtin has been a member of the Peru Fire Department for almost 14 years! Nick has been in the fire service in some fashion since he turned 16 for a total of 18 years. FF Curtin is also a firefighter for Tinley Park and Spring Valley.

FF Curtin’s favorite memory with Peru Fire is a time during the airshow when rain came and caused a large number of cars to become stuck in the muddy parking lot. Nick enjoyed being able to pull out several cars and help people get home.

A fun fact about Nick is that he is a HAM radio operator and even runs his own radio frequency called “Curtcom.”

Thank you for your time and dedication to the city and people of Peru!
