READ THIS BOOK! Even though the actual death toll is not known, the Great Peshtigo Firestorm is still one of the top ten worst disasters in the history of the United States, with estimates ranging from 1200 to 2400 or more lives lost. Unlike modern day tragedies such as Katrina, these hard working Northeastern Wisconsin people worked together, rebuilding from the ashes under the most terrible conditions imaginable, yet received almost no help or support.
