A Small Act of Kindness, A Big Impact

Recently, one of our veterans visited our offices while navigating a difficult period in his life. After meeting with our team, he was connected to additional community resources, including Katie’s Soles and the available shoe inventory.

Possibly coming back for a good pair of shoes, he became visibly emotional and shared that he couldn’t believe there are still people willing to give something that many take for granted.

This simple act of caring made a meaningful difference for a veteran who truly needed support. Moments like these remind us how powerful compassion can be—and how deeply it resonates with those we serve, veterans or simply people who also navigate difficulties in life.

The upcoming Housing Stability Resource Fair taking place tomorrow, April 9, 2026, at the Petersburg Public Library from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (with an intermission from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM).

This important event—hosted by Petersburg Public Schools, Councilman W. Howard Myers, and Peoples Advantage Helping Hands—aims to support families experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity in our community.
