PORTA JUNIOR HIGH NOVEMBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

The first student to be recognized as Bluejay of the Month is 7th grader Olivia Benedict from Petersburg. She is the daughter of George and Lori Benedict. Olivia’s favorite subject is math, as she enjoys solving equations. She loves being a student at PORTA because of the kindness and helpfulness of her peers. Her advice to fellow students is to be respectful, follow directions, and listen to teachers. Olivia's teachers commend her for her strong work ethic, always striving to do her best while maintaining kindness and respect toward others. Congratulations, Olivia!

The second student to be recognized as Bluejay of the Month is 8th grader Lila Calhoun from Petersburg. She is the daughter of Bobby and Katie Calhoun. Lila enjoys being a student at PORTA because of the wide range of activities she can participate in, including wrestling, cross country, choir, and student council. Her favorite subject is social studies, as she has a passion for learning about history. Lila’s advice to other students is to get involved in wrestling. Her teachers describe her as the hardest-working student they know, noting her conscientiousness, respect, diligence, and genuine care for her grades. Lila strives to improve not only in core subjects but in everything she takes on.
