Good evening. Unfortunately, we need to cancel school tomorrow, August 13th.
We have a large number of students and staff who have been impacted by the damage in Winslow and surrounding areas, and there is some damage at Pike Central that requires clean up. I’m thankful everyone is at least safe.
This will NOT be an eLearning day, since most of our classes haven’t planned for those yet. I’ll be exploring options for excusing or making the day up and will let all of you know those details as soon as I know more.
Thank you for a wonderful first day of school, despite this evening’s storms. We will see you all on Friday.

School is back in session TOMORROW! 🏫 That means children will be outside waiting to board the bus each morning and will be returning each afternoon. While PCSC does have stop-arm cameras and will be reporting all offenders to local law enforcement, we’d much rather PREVENT issues from happening than report them after someone has already put lives at risk, so PLEASE keep these reminders in mind:
⌚Slow down. Watch for buses and children gathering near bus stops. 🚌 The greatest risk to a child isn’t riding a school bus, but approaching or leaving one. Stay alert. Stay engaged. Keep them safe.
🟡 Yellow lights 🟡 on a school bus indicate the bus is preparing to stop. 🛑 If you’re driving, slow down, stay alert, and watch out for children. 🧒 🧒
🛑 See the school bus stop-arm? Time to STOP. 🛑 Racing past the arm puts young lives in jeopardy.
