Petersburg Home for Ladies

Petersburg Home for Ladies The preferred residence for women 65 and older in greater Petersburg, Virginia. We offer a level of service and care unequalled in the region.

For more than three generations, The Petersburg Home for Ladies has been the preferred residential and assisted living facility for older women living in Petersburg, Hopewell, and Colonial Heights as well as the surrounding counties of Dinwidde, Prince George, Chesterfield, and beyond. Our original Georgian style building, constructed more than fifty years ago, is decorated with traditional furnis

hings that reflect gracious living in a bygone era. Our ratio of nursing staff to residents is 1:7. Our overall staff to resident ratio is 1:4. Staff turnover at the Petersburg Home for Ladies is exceptionally low. This means our staff members have time to cultivate relationships with our residents and provide the individualized care and attention they need and the extra pampering they want. We accept women who can function in a residential or assisted living facility. No large up-front fee or capital outlay is required to enter the Ladies Home. We offer both studios and suites. Private pay and long-term insurance are accepted. Call our Administrator, Jessica Hancock, at 804-733-0148 for more information.

🎗️ Cancer Survivor Month – Day 5 🎗️
Today, we recognize and celebrate Colorectal Cancer Survivors—individuals who have faced challenges with courage, determination, and hope.

Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when detected early through routine screenings. Survivors are living proof of the importance of awareness, early detection, quality care, and perseverance.

💙 This month, we honor:
✨ The strength it takes to navigate diagnosis and treatment
✨ The resilience shown during recovery
✨ The families, caregivers, and healthcare teams who provide support every step of the way
✨ The survivors who share their stories to encourage others to get screened

A simple screening can save lives. If you're eligible for colorectal cancer screening, talk with your healthcare provider about the options available to you.

To all colorectal cancer survivors: Your journey inspires hope, and your strength reminds us why awareness and early detection matter.

🎗️ Today, we celebrate survivorship, courage, and the power of never giving up.

💜 Alzheimer’s Awareness Month – Day 5 💜
Staying active is about more than physical health—it’s also an important way to support brain health and emotional well-being.
For individuals living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia, meaningful activities can:
✨ Encourage social connection
✨ Reduce feelings of anxiety and frustration
✨ Stimulate memory and cognitive function
✨ Provide a sense of purpose and accomplishment
✨ Improve overall quality of life
Activities don't have to be complicated. Listening to favorite music, looking through family photos, gardening, simple crafts, walking, puzzles, or sharing stories can create moments of joy and connection.
Every meaningful interaction matters. Sometimes the smallest activities create the biggest smiles. 💜
Let's continue to support and celebrate individuals living with Alzheimer's by helping them stay engaged, connected, and valued every day.

💜 Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month – Day 4 💜
Did you know that staying socially connected can help support brain health? Meaningful conversations, shared activities, and spending time with loved ones can have a positive impact on emotional well-being and cognitive function.
Today, we encourage everyone to reach out to a friend, visit a family member, or spend time with someone who may need a little extra companionship. Small moments of connection can make a big difference.
At Petersburg Home for Ladies, we are committed to creating opportunities for engagement, friendship, and purpose every day while supporting those living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia.
Together, let's continue raising awareness, promoting brain health, and supporting individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's.
💜 Every connection matters.
