🎉On Thursday, the City of Petersburg marked a major milestone with the ribbon cutting of a new 12-unit affordable housing development on High Street — a place future residents will call home, right here in our community.

We are proud to celebrate this project alongside the incredible people who made it happen. Mayor Sam Parham and Councilman W Howard Myers joined Dianne Bowser, Executive Director of Southside Community Development & Housing Corporation, and Dr. Tamarah Holmes, Director, Virginia Department Of Housing And Community Development in formally cutting the ribbon and celebrating the completion of this project.

A heartfelt thank you to Southside Community Development and Housing Corporation for their vision, dedication, and tireless commitment to creating affordable housing opportunities for working households in Petersburg.

The City of Petersburg proudly celebrated the grand opening and ribbon-cutting of Spring Oak Senior Living on Wednesday, a significant and beautiful addition to our community and an investment in the health, comfort, and quality of life of our senior residents.

Mayor Sam Parham, along with Vice Mayor Darrin Hill, joined the Spring Oak team and SOVA Southern Virginia Chamber of Commerce for the ceremony, thanking all for the beautiful transformation of this space, taking it into a new chapter.

Spring Oak provides three levels of senior care designed to meet residents' evolving needs:

The City of Petersburg welcomes BriscoeWay Services to our community! Located at 18 Shore Street, this "clubhouse for teens" known as Da'Spot, is designed to be a safe, inclusive, and empowering space where youth can build resilience, develop coping and leadership skills, and connect with positive mentors, including a trained Certified Peer Support Specialist.

Their summer camp filled up quickly but the community is invited to find out more about their services here: www.briscoeway-services.com/da-spot-clubhouse. Teens can stop by to hang out, enjoy snacks and connect with others from 4 - 7 pm on weekdays.
