The WV Sheriff’s Assiciation hosted their annual leadership camp at Glenville University on July 12-17, 2026. Attending from Grant County were Clancy McPhail (UEC), Conner Carlon, Jakob Rohrbaugh, Gabe Stanton, & Reagan Welch (PHS). Sgt. Jason Rohrbaugh served as a staff member. This camp includes leadership skills, law enforcement demonstrations, marching, court procedures, elections, and much more. This camp is designed for students the ability to attend for four years. It’s that time of year again

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department would like to wish everyone a Happy Fourth of July!
Today, we celebrate 250 years of independence from tyranny, fear, and oppression. We want to thank all of those—from the colonial era to the present day—who have sacrificed to protect the freedoms we enjoy. Without their courage and dedication, we would not be where we are today.
We will never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom.
I also want to personally thank all of the deputies and staff of the Grant County Sheriff’s Department for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication to keeping our county safe. I encourage everyone to take a moment to look around and appreciate what an amazing community we have. Our deputies are out every day doing the job that has been entrusted to them, and the continued support from our citizens makes that job possible. Look at how well, everything is and has been going, thanks to these guys.
Finally, I want to thank the people of Grant County for the support you continue to show our department. We truly appreciate it and are honored to serve this community.

Don’t forget this is coming!! Just think, this is the job everybody wanted as a kid growing up, it is working in an awesome community, with very good pay, paid holidays, a very generous vacation plan, one of the best retirements in the state, take home cruiser, an option to have a paid cell phone. These are just some of the benefits that come with this position. There will be two officers selected that meet the requirements. If selected, in the future, there is the availability to be a canine officer, SWAT officer, school, resource officer, as well as other opportunities. Don’t let this slip through your hands!
