You may have received an NCOA (National Change of Address) card in the mail recently regarding your voter registration. Maybe you didn't get one and you’re wondering why?
NCOA cards are generated when the West Virginia Secretary of State’s office compares our voter list with the U.S. Postal Service’s list of people who have moved. It’s a way to keep our elections secure and ensure everyone is voting in the correct precinct.
IF YOU RECEIVED A CARD: Don't ignore it! It usually means the Post Office system thinks you may have moved.
If you DID move: Follow the instructions on the card to update your address.
If you DIDN'T move: You still need to respond. It just means the wires got crossed somewhere. Confirm your address so you don't get marked as "inactive."
IF YOU DIDN'T RECEIVE A CARD: This is usually GOOD news! It generally means the system sees that you are right where you’re supposed to be, and your registration matches your mailing address perfectly.
However, if you haven't voted in a long time or recently moved and didn't notify the Post Office, you should double-check your status just to be safe!
HOW TO DOUBLE-CHECK: You can verify your registration status in about 30 seconds. Check Online: https://ovr.sos.wv.gov/
The Grant County Clerk’s Office is here for you! If you are confused, have questions, or just want to confirm you’re ready to vote, please call or visit our office.
Visit: Grant County Courthouse, 5 Highland Ave., Petersburg, WV, or Call: 304-257-4550.
Tag a neighbor who might be confused! Let’s keep Grant County ready to vote!

YOU HAVE TO BE A REGISTERED VOTER to participate in the upcoming May 12 Primary Election. You can register to vote, update your current voter registration, or change your political party affiliation by visiting your County Clerk or online at GoVoteWV.com. REMEMBER: Due to a change by the WV Republican Party, only voters registered as REPUBLICANS may vote a REPUBLICAN Ballot in the Primary Elections.

Attention Grant County Voters!
The 2026 Primary Election is just around the corner, and there’s an important change you need to be aware of! In previous years, No Party Affiliation (NPA) voters could choose between Non-Partisan, Republican, Democratic, or Mountain party ballots in the primary. However, last summer, the Republican State Committee voted to CLOSE the Republican primary ballot.
What does this mean for you? If you’re registered as an NPA voter, you will no longer be able to vote the Republican ballot in the primary. Instead, you can choose from Non-Partisan, Democratic, or Mountain (if available) ballots.
Note: This change does not affect the General Election, where everyone votes the same ballot.
This decision was not made by me, my staff, or our dedicated poll workers, but instead by the representatives of the Republican State Committee. For more clarity, I’ve attached a picture to explain this change.
