Early Vote (EV) By Mail ballots have gone out for the Special Town Election. 17 more will hit the Post Office tomorrow along with EV’s for the State Primary. If you have both in your house at the same time, please be super careful not to mix up the two. The town ballots need to be in envelopes that are stamped “TOWN”. Mixing them up will cause your votes to not be counted. Also, don’t forget to sign that inner envelope. Happy voting!!

If you sent back your Vote By Mail card and checked off All Elections and it’s been received, then you will be soon getting your ballot for our Special Town Election that will be held on 8/24. 33 ballots went to the post office today. Please note when you get them, that all three envelopes are marked TOWN. Please be sure to keep those together as the State Primary ballots will start going out next week. If the ballots are in wrong envelopes, they won’t be counted. To return those ballots, please either mail them back, drop them off in the black box outside of the town office building or bring them to the Town Clerks Office. Good Morning. Due to the immediate resignation from the Selectboard by Danny Stair, there is a position open on the board. This position will appear on the ballot with the debt exclusion questions. This position will fill out the term of Danny which ends on April 5, 2027 at which time the candidate can run for 3 year seat if they chose to continue. The election will take place on August 24, 2026. This means that time is of the essence for taking out papers for the position. Papers are available now by either stopping in the Town Clerk's Office or by reaching out to me and setting up another time to get them. 2 hours at the dump and you will have all the signatures you need. Please consider filling this seat and serving the residents of Petersham.

It has come to my attention today that once again (yes this has happened before) someone has stolen the copy of the posted warrant from the bulletin board at the Post Office. That warrant is posted there in order for us to meet Article 2 Section 2 of our General By-Laws. This copy is not for someone to take home. If you’d like a copy, please go to the town office and request one. Please stop taking the posted copy. By doing this, you put our town meeting into question. This type of behavior is beneath the residents of Petersham.

166 voters were inactivated on Friday. Those people will be receiving a postcard to return if still living in Petersham. If a postcard is returned stating that you still live in Petersham and the card is filled out and signed, then status will be reactivated. If not, you will remain inactive and you will need your ID at the polls and you will have to fill out paperwork before you will be given a ballot.
