City Of Peterson

City Of Peterson Founded in 1856 by settlers during the Dakota War. Peterson was platted in 1881 when the railroad was extended to the area.

The city is named after Adlie Peterson, an early settler.

CITY OF PETERSON DOG AND CAT REGULATIONS ORDINANCE # 8-99

NUISANCES: It shall be a violation of this Code, subject to the penalty and enforcement provisions of this Code, for any person to permit or allow a dog or cat to become or create a nuisance. In regard to the keeping of dogs and cats, the following are hereby declared to be nuisances:

1) No owner of any dog shall permit such dog to run at large

2) Allowing any dog or cat to habitually bay or bark or any cat to screech, yell, or make a sound of any kind or nature for prolonged periods in such manner as to unreasonably disturb the peace and quiet of the vicinity; or by running after or chasing persons, bicycles, automobiles or other vehicles.

The City of Peterson is deeply saddened to share the passing of Paul Elms, a valued city employee. Paul served the community with tireless dedication and touched the lives of many through commitment and kindness.

During this time, the City will be operating with the assistance of volunteer help until a new employee is hired. The City Council appreciates the patience and understanding of all residents as we navigate this difficult transition.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Paul's loved ones during this difficult time.

A reminder that our tree dump is for YARD WASTE only. No pallets, lumber, construction material, or garbage bags are allowed.

**105.06 SEPARATION OF YARD WASTE REQUIRED.** All yard waste shall be separated by the owner or occupant from all other solid waste accumulated on the premises and shall be composted or burned on the premises and shall be unlawful to commingle or mix yard wastes with other solid waste. Yard wastes are not be collected or removed by the collector. As used in this section, "yard waste" means any debris such as grass clippings, leaves, garden waste, brush, and trees.
